Since 2003, The Joshua Gomes Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded over $30,000 in scholarships to students living with HIV/AIDS, sending them the message that they, too, are worth investing in.

With its humble beginning, the Fund awarded a modest $500 scholarship to its first year's recipient. The Fund's original intent was to award a $1,000 scholarship to a single recipient per year and although the first scholarship missed the mark, in just its second year, the Fund was able to raise enough money to award $4,000 in scholarships.  Through the generous donations from friends and family and due to the fundraising efforts of the Gomes Family, primarily through the Annual Colorado AIDS Walk, the Fund has been able to award 39 scholarships in only seven year's time.

The Fund now receives over 20 applications a year.

Our goal has been to raise $10,000 annually to expand the reach of hope to more than one recipient.  With over 20 applicants each year, it has become increasingly difficult to meet the needs based on our traditional methods of fundraising.

In addition to donations from individuals, we are seeking gifts from corporations and foundations.  If your company would like to learn more about how to initiate a charitable contribution, please contact the Joshua Gomes Memorials Scholarship Fund.
